Madrid Tourist Attractions

Madrid is the capital of Spain. It's a city known for bullfighting, fiestas and flamenco dancing, and royal palaces. The top attractions of Madrid are the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, Plaza de la Cibeles, Parque del Buen Retiro, Plaza de EspaƱa, The Prado Museum, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, The Archaeological Museum etc. The city offers dance halls, movie houses, music halls, cafes and more. Barcelona is known as a cultural centre owning monuments, historical sites, numerous art galleries and natural resources. The most visited museum is dedicated to one of Spain's most famous names, Pablo Picasso.

Warm dry summers and cool winters - a climate of extremes - are what you should expect from the city. Depending on what time of the year you visit Madrid, the weather and climate are as diverse as the city itself.
Characterized by intense cultural and artistic activity as well as a very lively and hot nightlife, you can never run out of things to do and places to go to in Madrid. It is a cosmopolitan city, headquarters for the public administration, business center and the home of the Spanish Royal Family.

The pleasant climate in Madrid has made it possible for this beautiful garden to be open throughout the year. It is a perfect spot to relax and have lunch. It is located in an area with many attraction sites in Madrid, including the Prado Museum. This fact makes the garden a popular ground for tourists who love the floral aspect of nature.

This botanical garden is home to a wide variety of shrubs, trees, flowers, and plants. Statistics clearly indicate that the garden has a whooping total of 30,000 flowers, plants, and trees. These include exotic plants and trees such as the Japanese raisin tree and the pomegranate.

One of Madrid's most important Spanish attractions, House of the Post Office, is nearby and is recognizable by its large tower clock. The post office building dates from the mid seventeen hundreds, and if you're lucky enough to be in Madrid during New Years Holiday you'll discover one of Spain's most fantastic celebrations. The historical holiday celebration is traditional complete with the festive ceremonial eating of twelve grapes as the clock chimes. Everyone cheers in celebration of the New Year.

Spanish celebrations and delight are plentiful in such Madrid locations as Madrid's main gate the Puerta del Sol. There are times when The Spanish commonly use this Historical location for political discourse and other social protests. From here it's just a short walk to Spain's Royal Palace and the Plaza Mayor (the center of the Spanish world).

Remember that Madrilenos (those who live in Madrid), like to enjoy a late dinner so don't arrive before 10 or you'll be dining with tourists. Dinner is a social event and usually takes 2 to 3 hours at least so plan for it if you'll be dining with locals. Make sure you are rested because dinner and a night out is an all night affair. Turning in early is usually about 2 or 3 in the morning.
