Nightlife In Riga

When looking to book a stag weekend abroad, you don't need to look any further than Latvia and it's capital, Riga. There are many, many reasons to take the boys away to this awesome city, the top 5 of which are listed below. So have a little read and then sort out the ideal weekend for the boy's with a Riga stag do.

The activities: There is a real great mix of activities to fill your day, starting with the old favourites including go karting and paintball and on to the awesome activities such as AK47 shooting and Olympic standard bob-sleighing, something that you'll find no where else!

The prices: Riga is one of the Eastern European cities that has managed to remain cheap so it means you and the lads can drink, eat and be merry all weekend long without breaking the bank.

The nightlife: This city doesn't really kick off until late at night, but then it really goes off! There's an endless number of cool bars and clubs scattered all over the city where the cheap beer and shots flows all through the night. In addition to that, there's a great range of other nightlife such as guided bar crawls, lap dancing entry and medieval banquets to enjoy on your stag night.

The Old Town was mostly built between 1860 and 1914. With its architecture that resembles other European cities, it is the most interesting place for tourists. Many museums, churches and important buildings are located here. Wile some are not open for visitors, like the Town Hall, they are definitely worth for a look.

Just outside the Old Town is the Freedom Monument - the most important Latvia's national symbol. The City Canal side with its parks is a good place to rest after the walk in the Old town, The National Opera house is also located just outside the Old Town.

The Art Noveau district has many splendid buildings. The Elizabetes street and Alberta Street are the best places. Many other Art Noveau buildings are located around the Freedom Monument.

You are made aware of Latvia's turbulent history on entering the New Town. The modernist Freedom Monument is heavily signified, represented by three gold stars. Bizarrely, this monument survived the Soviet era and is now guarded by two soldiers in symbolic protection of Latvia's independence. Walking round the New Town is just as awe-inspiring as Old Riga due to the magnificent Art Nouveau architecture, often credited as having the best surviving examples in Europe. Jugendstil motifs of mythological creatures and nymphs decorate the facades of many of the New Town's apartment buildings. A trip to the Latvian National Museum of Art is a highlight of a visit to the New Town. It is located in a grandiose Neoclassical building and exhibits an impressive collection of nineteenth- and twentieth-century Latvian works.
