Victoria Falls Zambia

The Victoria Falls are on the Zambezi River, at the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe in southern Africa. They are one of the Great Natural Wonders Of The World.A mile across and 400 ft high, they form the largest vertical sheet of water in the world.They were "discovered" by David Livingstone in 1855 and named for Queen Victoria.Before that, they were known locally by a more romantic name - Mosi-oa-Tunya, or "Smoke That Thunders"The falls are part of two national parks, Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia and Victoria Falls National Park in Zimbabwe, and they are one of Southern Africa's major tourist attractions.

Victoria Falls Bridge is situated close by the falls. The magnificent bridge that joins Zambia and Zimbabwe offers fascinating views of the Zambezi and the nearby dense forest. Another interesting activity in this area is Bunjee jumping. Interestingly, Victoria Falls is the world's longest bunjee distance - covering some 111 metres in length.

After the Victoria Falls the Zambezi River passes through nine gorges it has cut down 122 metres deep. The nine gorges are in fact former waterfalls at different stages of the development and migration of the falls up stream. This migration covers the past 150 million years!

Capital is a small town located on sandy land at the Eastern Provence of Zambia and it is famous for fueling stations. There are various attractive sites in this town for instance the Central Mosque which is the most beautiful structure in the town. Other sites include Kunjara Hill and Kuramba where festivals are held. Ndola town is famous for fast food restaurants and also good accommodation for visitors. There is also one screen movie theatre available and tourists can watch movies in English.
